I can only find out the min. required for upgrade in master database is 7mb,
but what is the recommanded size?

Unless you have an unusally large number of users, databases, or devices, the
minimum
size is the recommended size.

However, the idea is that extra space is needed for new tables and log records
generated
during the upgrade. If the previous minimum size for master is 3mb, then the
7mb new
minimum suggests that about 4mb of free space will be needed by the upgrade.
So if your master database is larger than usual, make sure it has at least 4mb
of free space.

You should truncate the master database log just before the upgrade and then
take
full backup (dump database) for good measure.
