Hi there,
I would like to generate a Data Dictionary report and filter
it only on the currently open diagram. How can I do that ? I
used the Report Wizard and created an RTF report with the
default Professional layout. As I stepped through the
report, I did not see a way to restrict the objects only to
a specific diagram. Now I have ended up with a 700 page
report as this data model has several diagrams.
In Erwin, you can restrict your report to only objects in a
single diagram. I am trying to re-create a similar report.

A Report is an independent item and has no concept of
"current" diagram, which makes sense. You can create a
report that works at the diagram level by dragging the
diagram group (the icon that looks like a book) into your
report, then dragging the table group under the diagram, and
them the table column group under the table. This will
generate report areas by diagram, then tables int he diagam
and then columns in the table. You can then right click on
the diagram group, go to selection and add the diagram name
to the "expresion" column for name. This will restrict the
output to items in that diagram. Sadly, you can't use the
"list of " icon in the report for columns under the table
which makes no sense. I don't understand why you would
create a data dictionary at diagram level though, because it
wouldn't really be a "dictionary", just a filtered list out
of context.

Scripts do have the concept of a current diagram and you can
sort of do what you want using scripts. (Tools->Execute
Command->edit/... Scripts are just vba scripts.

You can figure out how to use scripts by looking at the
existing scripts (.vbs) and the object reference.
Help->Metamodel... Reviewing the metamodel is a really good
way to understand what is going on under the hood.
