We are in the process of upgrading ASE 1254 to 15 using dump
& load into a new host, new server and eventually renaming
new server to old. Currently we have replication setup to &
from ASE 1254. If I rename my ASE 15 to ASE 1254 server what
steps do I have to take do start replication from & to ASE
15? Do I have to recreate the entire replication steps
again?

Thanks,
Sid.

Assuming:

- the new ASE 15 dataserver will be a *replicate* dataserver (ie, replicating *into* the ASE 15 dataserver)
- the replicate database name is not changing
- you have added the DSI's maintuser login/password to the ASE 15 dataserver
- you have added the DSI's maintuser as a user (or alias to dbo) in the ASE 15 database

I'm thinking all you need to do is:

- rename the the ASE 15 dataserver
- suspend the DSI into the ASE 12.5.4 database
- update the repserver's interfaces file so that the replicate dataserver name now points to the ASE 15 dataserver address
- resume the DSI

If the DSI complains about the inability to connect to the replicate dataserver then you may want to try bouncing the
repserver. (I'm assuming the interfaces file is accessed when you resume the DSI connection).

I'm also assuming you've worked out the details/timings for resyncing the new ASE 15 database before you point
replication at it.
