This may turn out to be quite a basic question. We are
building our first SUP system for POC.

I have installed SUP 2.1 and it went fine.

on running installebf to update to 2.1.2 it asks "Please
provide database login information for updating the CacheDB"
"Enter the user name:".

No matter what I put in this field I get a joava error (as
below).

No matter what ID I enter I get the same failure

Please provide database login information for updating the
CacheDB.

Enter the user name: Administrator
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
PWPrompt
Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: PWPrompt
at
java.net.URLClassLoader$1.run(URLClassLoader.java:202)
at
java.security.AccessController.doPrivileged(Native Method)
at
java.net.URLClassLoader.findClass(URLClassLoader.java:190)
at
java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:306)
at
sun.misc.Launcher$AppClassLoader.loadClass(Launcher.java:301)
at
java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:247)
Could not find the main class: PWPrompt. Program will exit.
Error prompting for CacheDB user account password.

Check the above output for any issues and then press Enter
key to exit...

Note I even went and changed the CacheDB service to "Log on"
as Administrator but no luck.

This is a brand new installation and the upgrade is being
run right after the main 2.1 install (nothing done between
apart from stopping and starting the system).

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks

This is the default UID/PWD for the CacheDB. If you changed it during
installation and forgot it, you'll have to uninstall/reinstall.

I didn't change the ID's / Passwords. but a thought occured
to me.
I am installing this on test kit and planning to do the real
install very soon, for this I then just choose the
evaluation license. If I choose evaluation would that stop
the upgrade?

Thanks

None of that would cause either the prompt you saw (for the DBA account id),
or the subsequent error.

You can attempt to reapply the EBF by deleting the folder
C:\Sybase\UnwiredPlatform\Servers\UnwiredServer\sup21ebf2 and re-running
installebf.bat.

Ok .. I restarted the complete install on a virgin system
setup (Win2k8)
I installed SUP 2.1, then MDK 2.1 then tried the 2.1.2
upgrade
but again it is asking for the cachedb user . I have put in
dba, but it is immediately rejecting it.

NOTE: this is using the Evaluation license type.

Are there any other suggestions?
I wanted to test the install so I can configure the POC box
before using the real license, but if I can't get it to work
then I will just restore the virgin system and re-do with a
real license.

Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks
Tony

Not sure what else I can tell you… Unless you changed them during the initial
install of 2.1, the CacheDB user account is "DBA", and the password is "SQL".
Might be case-sensitive, but I certainly don't recall having this problem when
I've performed this upgrade.

2.1.3 is due out this week. Maybe you skip 2.1.2 and go from 2.1 to 2.1.3 and
see if that gives different results.

OK I have found what the problem is but now WHY!!!
I downloaded the 2.1.2 upgrade from this SAP swdc file
51042840 SYBASE UNWIRED PLATFORM 2.1.2
Since then, as I had no luck, then I went in and downloaded
another "different" download from
SUP212-Build83-x64-drop4p9
which was under "upgrades" and had no material number (aka
no 510... like all install kits come with).
This upgrade worked fine.
They both have the same zip files in them but the one that
works contains 28 more files -- very strange.

Anyway I have my POC system hopefully upgraded to 2.1.2.
Thanks everyone for their suggestions (esp PaulH)
