Team,

We have created a Route from 15.1 to 15.6 Rep server

We have a DSI on 15.1 replication server that has few replication
definitions created.

We want to subscribe from 15.6 replication server to 15.1 rep definitions,
hence the routes came into picture.

Route creation is successfull and RSI shows active. However, the replication
definition is not appearing in 15.6 Rep Server. define subscription is
failed stating rep defn not found.

Regards
KRV

Not enough info to know for sure what the issue is ...

- what kind of repdef/subscription? table-level? MSA?

- is the repagent down in the PRS's RSSD? is the DSI into the RRS's RSSD down? (RSSD replication needs to be up and
running for the repdef to flow from the PRS RSSD to the RRS RSSD)

- have any repdefs from the PRS shown up in the RRS's RSSD? (run 'rs_helprep' in the RRS's RSSD to see if any repdefs
have replicated over from the PRS)

- check the RS errorlogs for any (error) messages regarding RSSD subscriptions issues (when you create a route you
should see a long series of messages about the creation of subscriptions into the RRS's RSSD; this behind-the-scenes
subscription setup is required to get data - eg, repdefs - replicated from the PRS RSSD to the RRS RSSD)

- check the RS errorlogs for any (error) messages regarding your specific repdef/subscription, eg, any messages about
retrying a connection, any messages about failed connections, etc (RS user login/passwords typically have to be the same
in both RS's; if the login/passwords are different then the RS's can have problems communicating with each other)

- if this is a database subscription, are you using 'with dump marker'? (in this case the same login must have the same
password in the PDS, PRS and RRS)

Here is the scenario

ASE 15.0.3 ---> 15.1 ---Route ---> 15.6 -- ECO ---> Oracle

Rep Agent is running fine at ASE and from 15.1 Server the data is being read
by repserver and sending to other sites.

I am not able to find a single repdefs defined at PRS (15.1) in RRS(15.6)
RSSD

When i created the route, I saw many messages about subs and defns for the
RSSD DB's

admin who and admin who,rsi shows the route is Active (Awake)

Thanks
KRV

Sounds like a problem with the setup of RSSD replication.

- take a closer look at the various RSSD subscription messages; any mention of issues in the most recent messages?

- post the output from 'admin who' for both repservers (may show subscription threads - which should only exist if RS is
in the process of setting up the subscriptions, eg, the RSSD subscriptions are hung)

- what RS login did you use to setup the route? does that login exist in both repservers? does that login have the same
password in both repservers?

- any messages in the RRS errorlog about 'Requested server not found'? (if RRS's interfaces file has a missing/faulty
entry for the PRS then the RRS will not be able to connect to the PRS to complete the setup of RSSD subscriptions); just
to be sure, make sure the interfaces files used by both the repservers have the same exact entries for both repservers

- what do you mean by 'data is being read by repserver and sending to other sites'? do you have other routes out of the
15.1 repserver? or are you talking about data being sent to/through a DSI at the 15.1 repserver?

- any messages in the RRS errorlog about the detection of losses? (do the following queries return any results when run
in both RSSDs: select * from rs_oqid where valid > 0 select * from rs_exceptslast where status > 0)

- what does the following return when run in the RRS RSSD: select subname, recovering from rs_subscriptions where
recovering > 0

- do the RSSDs reside in ASE dataservers or are you using the embedded/ASA RSSDs?

Thank you Mark.

From the errorlog and the admin who command, everything seems to be fine. We
are using ASE Dataservers for the RSSD and both the rep servers ASE is
running on different hosts

I will drop the route with nowait and re-create the route. This environment
is still in POC and have full freedom to try out options.

Once I re-create the route, I will make a note of all the details in the
errorlog. will post all the details here.

Regards
KRV
