Is there a way to create the export files temp_extract_name1
to 8 (where the results of queries are sent) on the client
machine?
Do I understand well that as it from IQ server; the
directory path for the output is from the IQ server process,
not the user process. How can this be done otherwise?

You can use the #> file output re-director

e.g.
select *
from sysobjects
># h:/test.txt

or you could use the OUTPUT statement

or if its an ASA (Catalog) table you can also use the UNLOAD
TABLE statement.

The choices are endless. :-)
