Hi,

Is there any need/merit to backup replication server
partitions in the host server backup taken by Unix SAs

Yes, there is.
To back up an entire RepServer, you need to do all of the following:
- stop RepServer
- backup all stable queues (=disk partitions) for this RepServer
- back up the RSSD (if hosted in ASE, dump the RSSD database; if hosted
as an embedded RSSD, copy the RSSD files)
- back up the RepServer .cfg file

After this, you can restart RepServer.

I'm guessing a system-level backup by the Unix admins doesn't do the
same thing.
