FYI: if you tried creating a CIS ODBC connection from IQ to ASE but
couldn't get it working, check out my writeup at
http://www.sypron.nl/iq_ase_odbc.
This is for IQ 15.2 or later.

I read Rob's write-up with great interest, and I'm sure it will work
once I have the necessary driver files ...

I can't find how to download the missing libsybdrvodb.so file anywhere
on the Sybase support site or Product Download Center.

I need the version for Linux x86-64 bit -- when installed, it will be
$SYBASE/DataAccess64/ODBC/lib/libsybdrvodb.so

Help please!

Thanks,

Duncan Suss

I found an installer to get libsybdrvodb.ini installed, and following
Rob's guidelines I managed to create the remote server and an external
login onto that remote server.

Next problem ... IQ isn't making a connection because the remote db is
using ISO_1 character encoding and it can't translate it to UTF-8.

Strange, because my IQ db is also using ISO_1 encoding for CHAR data --
but it seems NCHAR data is UTF-8 and this is causing the problem.

Sybase tech support came to the rescue ... the problem was caused by the
environment variable LANG being set to 'en_US.UTF-8' in the sybase user
profile.

Changing it to LANG='en_US' (without the .UTF-8 suffix) solved the conflict.
