we recently upgraded from rep server 12.1 ASE RSSD 12.5.3 to
rep server 15.2 ASE RSSD 15.0.3. since then our usual tables
which get duplicate keys have experienced no duplicate key
errors. is this a result of the upgrade ? possible rep
server using logged sql instead of before and after images ?

thanks

please disregard the question about log images - i realize
we do not have this option turned on any way and the
criteria are incorrect. the question of the lack of
duplication errors relating to the upgrades still stands
though.

thanks

that sounds odd, did you change anything related to error class during
upgrade ? It is possible for repserver to ignore "duplicate key" message if
you
have such error class setup

hi manish.
no, nothing was changed with regard to error classes. if
that was the case, the replicate tables would be different
from the replicated tables. the tables are exactly the
same. my best guess is that maybe some internal processing
was changed/made more efficient in the new version. thought
some insiders might know or caught a whiff of something like
this.

thanks

Can you create a dummy table in primary and replicate, replicate few rows

update replicate table manually and then try to insert duplicate value and
see what happens.

I don't think making internal processing efficient should have anything to
do with the way duplicates are handled

In the past, we (at work), did see duplicate key errors when using
Parallel DSI connections but was back in the early 15.0 days. So it is
possible that there might have been a regression - though unlikely

thanks everybody. it isn't on the replicate side - the
transactions seem to be coming across cleaner. that whole
issue with updating primary keys seems to have gone away for
certain tables. that's why there arent any duplicate keys.
it isn't that dups are being handled differently, they seem
to be gone. just wondering if the formation of the
sql/transactions on the replicated side maybe changed.
anyway, thanks again !
