After migrating my PowerBuilder application from 8.0 to
11.5, new application is not distingushing between single
and doble spaces. It is considering both to be spaces,
instead of single or double space.
But PB 8.0 differentiates single and double spaces.

In what context? You should note that starting with PB10, strings are
stored as Unicode, 2 bytes/character.

What is the actual length of the field? Trailing spaces will cause the =
comparison to fail. If you really don't care how many spaces,
Len(Trim(field)) = 0 might be the way to go.
