A few months we upgraded to AIX 5.3 TL7 SP2. We were
running a previous version of 5.3 before the upgrade.
We have production objects that send out emails in
qualification objects. After the upgrade the emails stopped
working. We now get this error.

ImpactSmtpObject::SmtpError() Unknown error code [553] from
SMTP, message=[553 5.5.4 adt_sfm... Domain name required for
sender address adt_sfm

The upgrade must have wiped out whatever email settings we
had. Does anyone know how to configure the SMTP settings to
allow impact to send mail?

Kitty

Kitty,
I will e-mail you more detailed documentation we have on
this. My notes are:
1. cd /etc/mail
2. vi aliases file to add/edit e-mail accounts
3. Type: sendmail -bi (this takes a while to run and
activates the entries in the aliases file.
Debbie

I've recently discovered that our calls to the odl email
method
have also stopped working. We were probably pushing the
bounds
of what we were trying to do with our call to email() by
passing
it a subject and multiple email addresses. It looks like
the
new Impact releases have modified that method and have
retricted its use. In a simplified example, we were making
calls that looked like this:

text.email("person1@xxxx.org person2@xxxx.org
person3@xxx.com");

and had to change the calls to:

text.email("person1@xxxx.org");
text.email("person2@xxxx.org");
text.email("person3@xxx.com");

After these mods were made the email method started working
again.
