I have a SQL update tran_ide (it does not has input and output) that is
scheduled to update a database at a specific time everyday. Does anybody
have any suggestion about how to trigger this SQL update?

Thanks!

What database, MS SQL server?
On what OS do you want to run your tran?

Some ideas:

1. Run the SQL in a SQL server job (if no input data is
required)
2. A clAcquire AIM that with a sleep that check the date and
time every time it loops
3. crontab that runs the AIM by calling ims5?cluster or
clapp depending on your version of impact

unless you have to parse some input data you don't have to
use tran_ide you can just have an AIM?

To trigger an event from an external source at a specific
time

Use "Cron" to launch a shell ..
Shell should issue a "Command Line DFC"

ims54cmdlinedfc -cluster.server $SERVER \
-env.snmp.port $SNMPPORT \
-cluster.name $CURCLUSTER \
-domain.type $DOMTYPE -domain.name $DOMNAME \
-dfc.function $DFCFUNC -dfc.flavor $FLAV \
-dfc.args '0' $ARGUMENT

The AIM will need to have a "DFCFUNC" that will start what
you want (SQL job) based on the "ARGUMENT" passed
This function will need to be defined in configurator as a
DFC and given a "FLAV"

or re-cycle "servayt" - and modify it to check the argument
passed
