Hi.

I have a webpage displaying data from the database using JavaScript and the
mentioned secure Window ActiveX. In one event I connect, retrieve and
disconnect from the database. I perform the SetTransObject function after
connecting to the database.
When running this window using the unsecure control everything works just
fine. When using the secure control the SetTransObject is not performed,
without any message I return in the JavaScript function. The GetLastReturn
function does not returns any value at all.
Does anybody knows what to do ?

Regards,
Johan Bakker

The secure version of the control won't allow you to perform certain
operations. SetTransObject is, I believe, one of them.

Create a window user event to set the transaction object ue_SetTrans. On the
window open event: post the user event ue_SetTrans after connecting to the
database.

Example:

//Window open event
SQLCA.DBMS = "MSS Microsoft SQL Server 6.x"
SQLCA.Database = "testdatabase"
SQLCA.ServerName = "testserver"
SQLCA.LogId = "testid"
SQLCA.AutoCommit = True
SQLCA.DBParm = ""

CONNECT ;

PostEvent("ue_SetTrans")

//Window user event ue_SetTrans
dw_1.SetTransObject(SQLCA)

That only works for the *standard* control. The secure control is restricted
from a number of operations (straight from the online docs):

These types of activities are restricted when you use the secure
PowerBuilder window plugin:

Activity Restriction
External functions Calling an external function causes an
execution time error
Certain PowerScript functions Calling a restricted PowerScript function
causes an execution time error
Database connection Calling PowerScript functions that result
in database access causes an execution time
error
Internet access Applications that use the secure PowerBuilder
window plugin can establish an Internet
connection only to the current web server
E-mail Calling PowerScript Mail functions causes
an execution time error
OLE Calling PowerScript OLE functions causes an
execution time error
Distributed computing You cannot connect to PowerBuilder application
servers
Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) Calling PowerScript DDE functions causes an
execution time error

The reason you have to post to another event from the standard control is
because even with the standard control the open event fires in secure mode.
